This project is in two phases:

Phase 1: Global Fund (GF) New Funding Mechanism HIV Grant Investing for Impact against Tuberculosis and HIV program -3rd October, 2018-2019

Equitable Health Access Initiative implemented the Key Population (KP) Intervention part of Global Fund (GF) New Funding Mechanism HIV Grant. EHAI implemented the Investing for Impact against Tuberculosis and HIV program as sub-recipient to Society for Family Health in Lagos and Oyo States. The period of implementation of the project was 9 months (3rd October 2018 – 30th June,2019).
Through this intervention, EHAI engaged 2 local Key Population led Community Based Organizations to reach 2,065 and 2,800 MSM in Lagos and Oyo States respectively with:

  • HIV Minimum Prevention Package Intervention (MPPI) – Structural, Biomedical and Behavioural Interventions
  • Active Linkage of HIV positive peers to HIV treatment immediate ART commencement at One Stop Shop (OSS) facilities and KP Friendly Health Facilities
  • Monitor HIV positive peers enrolled on ART to ensure Adherence, Virologic Suppression and Retention in Care .

Phase 2: Optimizing HIV Investment for Impact (OHII) Grant – 2019- 2021

Equitable Health Access Initiative implemented the Key Population (KP) Intervention part of Global Fund (GF) Optimizing HIV Investment for Impact Grant in Southern Nigeria. EHAI is implemented the project as sub-recipient to Society for Family Health in Abia, Anambra, Edo, Enugu, Imo and Oyo States. The period of implementation of the project is 18 months (July 2019 – December 2020. EHAI identified and engaged 18 local KP- Led Community Based Organizations (CBOs) across the six states. The engaged CBOs were selected from Men who Have Sex with Men (MSM); Female Sex Workers (FSW); People Who Inject Drugs (PWID) KP Communities in a bid to ensure the following on the project.

  • HIV Prevention, Care and Treatment Intervention
  • Provision of Comprehensive Community based HIV Service Package including prevention, care and support, referrals and linkages to treatment services in Public/Private Health facilities and One-Stop-Shop
  • Community and Institutional Strengthening
  • Identification, engagement and capacity development of Key Population (KP)-led CBOs for programming
  • Strengthening of healthcare workers to provide KP-friendly services in public and private facilities
  • Enabling/Legal Environment for Key Population Communities
  • Human Right documentation and advocacy for KP Community members
  • Access to justice and legal aid services for KP Community members
  • Reduce Stigma and discrimination of KP Community members
