USAID ACE 6 (2023 – 2027)

Equitable Health Access Initiative (EHAI), in partnership with Heartland Alliance Limited by Guarantee (HALG), is a key sub-awardee in the USAID-funded Accelerating Control of the HIV Epidemic in Nigeria Cluster 6 (ACE-6) Project. The primary objective of this initiative is to reduce HIV prevalence in Lagos State by focusing on community-based HIV testing and case-finding efforts, particularly targeting vulnerable populations.

Target Population

  • Children aged 15 and below
  • Adolescents and young adults
  • Men and women of reproductive age
  • General population in Lagos State

Project Objectives

The ACE-6 project aims to achieve accelerated control of the HIV/AIDS epidemic by:

  • Conducting Community HIV Testing: Focusing on active case finding in hotspots, particularly among the most vulnerable groups.
  • Increasing Access to Preventive HIV Services: Expanding screening and testing services across Lagos communities.
  • Enhancing Care and Treatment Enrollment: Ensuring all positive cases are enrolled in treatment programs.
  • Advocacy and Social Mobilization: Driving awareness through targeted communication and social outreach efforts.

Key Achievements

  • Screened over 60,000 individuals for HIV.
  • Identified and enrolled 200 individuals living with HIV for treatment in local health facilities.
