Technical Officer, Programs (ADHOC)

SUMMARY/OVERVIEW

Our Organization, Equitable Health Access Initiative (EHAI), is an indigenous non-governmental organization fully committed to positively impacting the human race through the implementation of highly innovative programs and projects that enhances positive, healthy and productive living. We are looking to hire a Technical Officer, Programs, to support the GHIG7 Pfizer Foundation project in Osun state for a period of 1 year. You will be expected to support the implementation of all program activities at field level through on-site and on-the-job capacity building and data reporting.

Project Goal and Objectives: EHAI focuses on optimizing protection, prevention, diagnosis and treatment of pneumonia, diarrhea and malaria (PDM) through integration into the state health immunization program and community-based awareness programs for under-fives. The following objectives will be achieved on the project by 31st December 2023:

  1. Strengthen the capacity of 210 healthcare providers (120 Frontline health workers in PHCs, 60 CoRPs and 30 LGA Health Educators) to deliver high quality PDM prevention, diagnosis, and treatment services.
  2. Improve the capacity of the 60 selected PHCs to document and report on PDM.
  3. Increase knowledge and acceptance of PDM prevention, diagnosis, and treatment interventions in selected communities.
  4. Influence policy environment on improved protection, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of PDM in Osun State.

Target Population: The target population on this project will be under-5 children, their care givers, the healthcare workers at selected high burden PHCs in all 30 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the State.

This Position is open to all qualified candidates

Work Hours shall be: 8:00am to 5.00pm daily (Monday to Friday)            

This position reports to:  Project Director and Head, Technical Programs

Location: Oshogbo Osun State, Nigeria.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Coordinates all program activities including supportive supervision, data collection and collation and ensure timely compilation and reporting of data.
  • Write and submit report of all activities on the project.
  • Prepare regular and routine reports – monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual reports.
  • Ensure that all relevant staff at the PHCs are mentored on service provision and documentation as scheduled.
  • Maintain an inventory of M&E tools at supported sites. Report and make requisition for tools as at when due.
  • Availability for any other tasks as the unit may deem necessary.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Experience in implementing healthcare projects especially at Primary healthcare level.
  • Experience providing capacity building support (supportive supervision and training) for healthcare workers in Nigeria
  • Energetic, self-motivated with demonstrable analytical skills, strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent oral and writing skills, including power point presentations.
  • Experience in Monitoring and Evaluation of Health Programs.
  • Fluency in the local language is desirable.
  • Basic to intermediate user of Microsoft Excel
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines with quality reports and results.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills

QUALIFICATION AND REQUIREMENTS

  • To be successful you will have a Bachelor’s degree (minimum of Second Class) in Public Health or relevant field.
  • Relevant field experience working on healthcare projects with a minimum of two (2) years’ cognate experience.

The Technical Officer, Programs under the supervision of the Project Director/Head technical programs to provide to support all Pfizer Foundation/GHIG 7 project implemented by EHAI in Osun State.
