ROLE/JOB SUMMARY

Our Organization, Equitable Health Access Initiative (EHAI), is an Indigenous non-governmental organization fully committed to positively impacting the human race by implementing highly innovative programs and projects that enhance positive, healthy, and productive living. We are looking to hire a Technical Officer, Programs, to support the GHIG8 Pfizer Foundation project in Kwara state for a period of 1 year. You will be expected to support the implementation of all program activities at the field level through on-site and on-the-job capacity building and data reporting.

Project Goal and Objectives: EHAI aims to significantly reduce the number of children with zero-dose and under-immunization through digitized immunization registration and tracking; awareness, and education.

The following objectives will be achieved on the project at 10 selected PHCs:

  1. Digitize the Immunization Register and tracking system.
  2. Build the capacity of 60 HCWs for optimized immunization coverage and tracking.
  3. Engage and build the capacity of 24 Community volunteers to actively track unimmunized newborns (and defaulters of routine immunization.
  4. Ensure 95% of newborns of all pregnant women registered for ANC receive their first immunization.
  5. Ensure 95% of all children complete their immunization based on the national immunization schedule.
  6. Increase routine vaccine awareness and education at the community level through m-health.

Target Population: The target population of this project will be under-5 children, their caregivers, healthcare workers, and community volunteers at selected high-burden PHCs in all 12 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the Ilorin East.

This Position is open to all qualified candidates

Work Hours shall be: 8:00am to 5.00pm daily (Monday to Friday)

Location: Ilorin East, Kwara State, Nigeria.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinates all program activities including capacity building, data migration, supportive supervision, documentation, data collection, collation, and reporting.
  • Write and submit a report of all activities on the project.
  • Prepare regular and routine reports–monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual reports.
  • Ensure that all relevant staff at the PHCs are mentored as scheduled.
  • Maintain an inventory of M&E tools at supported sites.
  • Availability for any other tasks as the unit may deem necessary.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Experience in implementing healthcare projects, especially at Primary healthcare level.
  • Experience providing capacity-building support (supportive supervision and training) for healthcare workers in Nigeria
  • Energetic, self-motivated with demonstrable analytical skills, strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and writing skills, including PowerPoint presentations.
  • Experience in Monitoring and Evaluation of Health Programs.
  • Fluency in the local language is desirable.
  • Basic to intermediate user of Microsoft Excel
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines with quality reports and results.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills

QUALIFICATION AND REQUIREMENTS

  • To be successful you will have a Bachelor’s degree (minimum of Second Class) in Public Health or relevant field.
  • Relevant field experience working on healthcare projects with a minimum of two (2) years cognate experience.
  • Experience in Health Management Information Systems.

OVERALL JOB PURPOSE:

The Technical Officer, Programs/HMIS under the supervision of the Project Director will support all Pfizer Foundation/GHIG 8 project activities implemented by EHAI in Kwara State.
