EHAI Nigeria Attends Inaugural Technical Advisory Meeting for Pfizer GHIG 7 (PDM) Project

 

 

A momentous step towards better healthcare for children under 5 years in Osun State was taken recently during the inaugural Technical Advisory Group (TAG) meeting of Equitable Health Access Initiative (EHAI) Nigeria with key stakeholders from Osun State held in Osogbo, Osun State.

Led by Dr Oluyemi Ogundun, representatives from important state agencies gathered to work towards a healthier future. He went on to introduce each participant, mentioning their names and roles from various state agencies. The meeting saw the collaboration of EHAI, Osun State Primary Health Care Agency, Osun State University Teaching Hospital, and Osun State Ministry of Health.

With warmth, Dr. O.S. Fabiyi, the Executive Secretary of Osun State Primary Health Care Agency, welcomed everyone, expressing gratitude for the chance to implement the Global Health Innovation Grants (GHIG) 7 project in Osun State. He assured full support from the PHC board and officially inaugurated the technical advisory group, a significant milestone for EHAI’s success.

Dr. Adeola, EHAI’s Project Director, appreciated the participant for their presence. She introduced EHAI as a local NGO focused on research, training, and innovative public health projects, saying their mission is to control diseases affecting public health and strengthen healthcare systems in Nigeria.

Thanks to funding from Pfizer Foundation through (GHIGs), pneumonia, diarrhoea, and malaria (PDM) project will run from February 2023 to January 2024 in Osun State. The aim is clear – to improve the protection, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases affecting young children, like pneumonia, diarrhoea, and malaria.

EHAI’s objectives for the project, include strengthening the capacity of healthcare providers to deliver high-quality PDM services. Training sessions held in March and April 2023 contributed to achieving this goal. Other objectives focus on enhancing healthcare management, promoting health awareness, and influencing policies for better protection and treatment.

As the participants absorbed the project’s vision, they learned about the ongoing activities. A 1-Day Workshop for the CoRPs in April 2023 empowered agents of change, and Community outreach continue to bring positive transformation to local communities. EHAI has also developed tools for efficient documentation, leveraged technology for community awareness, and provided continuous support for healthcare excellence.

The meeting left everyone eager, waiting for the Dissemination of Results in January 2024, showcasing the collective impact of their efforts. With passion and dedication, EHAI and its partners are stepping forward to create a healthier, brighter future for children in Osun State.
