EHAI Nigeria Celebrates the Successful Closeout of the Automated Digitalized Immunization System (ADIS) Project

The Equitable Health Access Initiative (EHAI) Nigeria, with generous support from the Pfizer Foundation, successfully hosted the Dissemination and Closeout Ceremony for the Automated Digitalized Immunization System (ADIS) Project.

Driving Innovation to Improve Immunization Coverage

The ADIS Project was designed to address persistent challenges of zero-dose and under-immunized children through the deployment of an Electronic Immunization Register (EIR), a digital solution developed to enhance immunization data management, track defaulters, and support data-driven decision-making at the primary health care level.

Through continuous system upgrades, strong stakeholder collaboration, and the mobilization of health workers and community volunteers, the project demonstrated how innovation and partnerships can transform immunization delivery.

Key Achievements and Impact

During its pilot phase in Kwara State, the ADIS project:

  • Reached over 21,000 children across 183 communities, helping bridge critical gaps in immunization coverage.
  • Achieved a 60% reduction in loss-to-follow-up through automated SMS reminders and volunteer tracking systems.
  • Strengthened community engagement, data-driven monitoring, and coordination among health facilities.

These outcomes highlight the potential of digital health solutions to close immunization gaps and reaffirm the importance of collaboration in achieving sustainable public health results.

Partnership, Learning, and Sustainability

At the dissemination event, stakeholders commended EHAI’s commitment to advancing equitable health access through innovation. Representatives from the Kwara State Government and WHO described ADIS as a scalable model for improving routine immunization outcomes and strengthening health systems nationwide.

The discussions also focused on sustainability — exploring how the State Government and partners can continue to leverage the ADIS platform for broader health interventions in the future.

A Commitment to Equitable Health Access

The success of the ADIS Project underscores EHAI’s dedication to leveraging technology, data, and collaboration to improve primary health care delivery in Nigeria. What began as a pilot in Kwara State now serves as a blueprint for how digital innovation can drive measurable and lasting impact in public health.
