SUMMARY/OVERVIEW

Our Organization, Equitable Health Access Initiative (EHAI), is an indigenous non-governmental organization fully committed to positively impacting the human race through the implementation of highly innovative programs and projects that enhances positive, healthy and productive living. EHAI is a sub grantee of the Society for Family Health, (SFH), implementing the Global Fund HIV NFM Extension grant (Key Population Program for MSM in Lagos and Oyo States) to provide assistance to the Government of Nigeria (GoN) on the HIV epidemic response to provide High quality free HIV prevention, care and treatment services.

To support this process, EHAI is required to fill the following position(s).

JOB PURPOSE: Provide both technical and administrative support towards implementation of quality and sustainable Minimum Prevention Package Intervention (MPPI), HIV Counselling and Testing, referral and linkages to antiretroviral therapy(ART)  and STI syndromic management for key population (MSM)  HIV positive  clients  at facility and community levels in line with national policies and guidelines and international best practice.

MAIN TASKS

  • In collaboration with other EHAI staff, provide technical assistance to Peer Educators (PE), Outreach Workers (ORWs) and Community-Based Organisations.
  • Undertake implementation of guidelines, tools and recommendations related to the implementation, evaluation of MPPI for key populations.
  • Initiate and encourage best practices in the field of MPPI services to key populations.
  • Contribute to development of lessons learned from programs and projects related to MPPI Services and apply these lessons to modify existing program and improve the design of new programs.
  • Support partner sites, collaborating NGOs/CBOs and other partners to provide MPPI services, in accordance with GON policies and guidelines and internationally recognized best practices.
  • Ensure that the Peer Educators (PE) and Outreach Workers (ORWs) offer a functional and efficient KP friendly service
  • Support Peer educators, Outreach workers and other partners to conduct peer sessions and provide HCT services.
  • Facilitate referral and linkages of all HIV positive KPs to ART care and treatment.
  • Carry out initiatives to enhance retention in care and reduce loss to follow of HIV positive KP clients
  • Provide supportive technical and programmatic supervision through supported CBOs over Peer educators and outreach workers.
  • Ensure quality ART adherence services to HIV positive KP clients
  • Facilitate STI screening and syndromic management of KP clients
  • Encourage proper documentation using recommended tools both at community and facility levels
  • Work with other programme staff and thematic areas to map out strategies to achieve set programme objectives and cover gaps identified.
  • Conduct Advocacy visits to Key stakeholders within the catchment communities.
  • Work with key population networks and other organisations to advance advocacy priorities of key populations living with HIV (e.g. Sexual Reproductive Health rights and access to HIV and STI management services, among others)Facilitate viral load testing for all HIV positive KPs who are on ART and are eligible
  • Work with other Technical Officers and thematic areas to map out strategies to achieve set programme objectives and cover gaps identified
  • Submit regular scheduled reports of activities he/she carried on behalf of EHAI.
  • Draw up monthly, quarterly and annual work plans
  • Assist in strengthening a system of reporting on program progress against stated objectives and monitoring and evaluation frameworks.
  • Contribute to the development of program strategies, subproject documents, work plans
  • And any other delegated task that enhances your skills.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of key population health and development programs in developing countries in general and Nigeria specifically.
  • Knowledge and experience in key population HIV program implementation at the community and facility levels.
  • Good clinical and programmatic understanding of HIV care and treatment  among KPs
  • Sensitivity to cultural differences and understanding of the social, political and ethical issues surrounding key population programming.
  • Ability to work well with others and to develop and maintain compatibility among project staff, consultants and end-users of service.
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to manage tight deadlines and deliver high volumes of work with minimal supervision.
  • High degree of proficiency in written and spoken English communication.
  • Appropriate computer skills.
  • Ability to travel within Nigeria 50% time.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  •  B.Sc/BNSc/ Public Health/ applied sciences  or similar degree
  • 2-3 years relevant experience in Key Population HIV project at health facility, and community levels.
  • Training in Sexual Diversity/Orientation is desirable
  • Program-planning and coordination experience is desired.
  • Familiarity with Nigerian public health sector systems and NGOs and CBOs is highly desirable
